On 8 February 2012 PNTL, F-FDTL and UNPOL joined together to participate in a Field Exercise targeted towards crowd control to ensure security and stability during the elections. To oversee and inspect the event were: Head of State Dr. José Ramos-Horta, UNMIT SRSG Ameerah Haq, DSRSG Mochida, Chief of Defense Force Major-General Lere Anan Timur, General Commander of PNTL Commissioner Longuinhos Monteiro and UNPOL Commissioner Luis Miguel Carrilho.
